You say TornAdo, I say TornAAAdo!

With so much going on in the world right now, I noticed that there hasn't been a lot said about the devastation on our own soil. So, I thought I would break it down for you and let you know how you can help.

Here are the facts:
  • On April 27th, about 139 tornadoes have been reported in the South and the Southeast killing nearly 300 people in six states.
  • This has been the nation's deadliest natural disaster since Hurricane Katrina.
  • More tornadoes have touched down this April than any other month since 2000.
  • The highest death toll and devastation is in Alabama with about 204 deaths.
  • Obama visited Alabama and said,“We are going to do everything we can to help these communities rebuild. We can’t bring those who’ve been lost back — they’re alongside God at this point. . . . But the property damage, which is obviously extensive, that’s something that we can do something about.”
  • Federal aide is available for recovery efforts.
Here is how you can help:
  • American Red Cross Relief: Text "REDCROSS" to 90999
  • Mississippi Disaster Recovery Fund: Text "MS" to 27722
  • Salvation Army: Text "GIVE" to 80888
  • Samaritan's Feet: Text "SHOES" to 85944
  • Save the Children: Text "4TORNADO" or "TWISTER" to 20222
  • United Way of Central Alabama: Text "TORNADO" to 50555
Here are some articles where I found my information:
